Sorry and an update

Sorry:
So as you can tell I haven't posted anything on here in quite a while, I've been so caught up with college and other boring stuff that I've had no time to post anything. Hopefully over the next few weeks I can get a few things posted up, not sure what yet but I'll figure something out.

Update:
Thought I'd do a short update since it's been a while; first things first....I'm now 18, I'm officially an adult and can legally drink (As I live in the UK). Secondly I will hopefully be making vlogs in November as I am going on holiday!

Fallen Series-Lauren Kate

So before I starte dreading Hunger Games I read the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, At the moment I am still waiting for the last book 'Rapture' but it's not out till June 14th, but her books are amazing; they're so confusing to try and explain because they're a fantasy book about Angels/Fallen Angels/Demons ect. I would read them if I was you, it's one of the best series of books that I have ever read and I can't wait till the nest one comes out.
Book 1-Fallen
Book 2-Torment
Book 3-Passion
Book 3.5-Fallen in love (This is fairly confusing)
Book 4-Rapture

Tip: Make-up

Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez Attend the LA Premiere of Never Say Never; But Selena Has a Foundation Faux-Pas!
Little bit cakey there girls

So cakey make-up is not a good luck, I see it all the time and sometimes my make-up goes a little cakey too...I hate it. But we all make the mistake sometimes, when you see yourself in your mirror you might look fine but go out in the sun and see your reflection and you can tell so the best thing is to do your make-up with natural light from the sun...If possible, if not use a bright light that's white not a orange/yellow colour, this changes the colour of your skin.

Before you start make sure your face is clean, you want to work on a smooth surface, then apply a moisturiser and a primer (optional) I don't use primer I find it too pricey, but a moisturiser works for me, after applying the moisturiser I wait till it has full dried on my face before I apply a small amount of foundation; if it takes to long to dry you can dab it with a soft dry cloth. I squirt one pump of foundation that matches my skin tone on the back of my hand sometimes two pumps if I'm having a break out and I need a little more coverage. The I use my index finger to pick up small amounts of the foundation and dot it around my face first around my eyes/higher cheeks, chin, nose, fore head and then rub in gently till my skin tone is evened out, I then use a concealer on any really bad blemishes, spots or dark circles, my concealer is a similar colour to my foundation so it's easy to blend together. I use my index finger again just dabbing it on the areas I need, don't wipe your finger across it dab it as this gives more coverage. I then leave my foundation to dry out for a couple of minutes then use a really big fluffy brush and some loose translucent powder and dab it across my entire face, making sure there's only a small amount on the brush this is usually when people make it too cakey, but a small amount works fine, it stops you looking shiny and sets the foundation.

Contouring and highlighting; I don't always contour and highlight because I can't be bothered but when I do I use a small amount of a white eye shadow and put it on the highs of my cheek bones and blend it in with a big fluffy brush. After this I use an angle brush to contour my cheek bones with some bronzer that's not to dark since I am very fair skinned I also use a slight bit on my t-zone remember to blend it with the rest of my face. Some times I will then use a light pink blush on the apple of my cheeks making them stand out,

(Optional) I don't do this but many people do...Setting spray-helping to keep your make-up on for longer and setting it together but I find these to expensive and I can't afford them.

Avoid CAKE FACE!

Gym!

So the gym sounds scary to many people; all that hard work and sweating! But I actually enjoy working out not because I ache for days afterwards but because I actually feel good about myself that's why I've decided to join my local gym, I have an induction on Thursday for it and I'm actually looking forward to it, since I'm a student it only costs me £15 a month and I get free swimming, free personal trainer, free sauna...Looking forward to that one. Plus a lot more then that, plus I also get fitness sessions like Zumba and abs classes for half price and they're pretty cheap anyway. I can't wait to get started and since next week is the Easter holidays I can go any time I like and maybe with my mum a couple of times. That's the thing I dislike, is going on my own; but I suppose I can sit and listen to music which is quite chilling as I work out.

The Hunger games

So most people by now have heard of The Hunger Games, so I thought since everyone is talking about it I'm going to get the book...SO I got the book yesterday and started reading straight away and I finished the book earlier today, not because it's a short book but because my eyes where glued to it, I even had a full day at college yesterday and had three lessons today and managed to finish it. It's an amazing book, you have to read it; I can't wait to see the film but I don't want it to ruin the book like some films do. Since the book was so good I decided to download the other two book which I plan to read through the Easter holidays as I have a lot of work to be handed in by Friday so that has to come first. I will leave a review on the other two book when I have completed them. If I had to rate this book I'd give it a 4.5/5 stars; it was that good. I struggle to find books I like that's how I know it's a good book because I could actually sit and read it and not get bored of it in five minutes like most books. GO READ IT NOW!

Camera

Taken with Nikon Coolpix L120
Not exactly to do with this blog exactly but since I have a new camera I can film tutorials and get better pictures, if any of you are interested in what camera I have it's the Nikon Coolpix L120, it was £259.99 half price at Argos it is now £129.99, amazing deal and when you buy that you get a Nikon camera case for £20 which is originally £40, so it's an absolute bargain. It takes amazing photo's and the video quality is good too, not amazing but for the price it is excellent, I was more bothered about the photographing side of it anyway; it does everything an DSLR does other then you can't change lenses but the lens on it is good anyway it has a 4.5-94.5mm lens and a 21x wide optical zoom. It's 14.1 megapixels, a three inch LCD screen with live view. I checked all the reviews and other then two people (Who complained there photo's go blurry with the flash on, well mine takes really clear photographs when I have my flash on) all of them have either 4 or 5 stars and it has really great feedback and even though I've had it only two days I totally agree.
For more information or to buy this camera from Argos you can take a look here:

Blueberry Lemonade (Blueberry fizz)

Delicious
So I was looking things up about Blueberries when I cam across this...I'm of out for a jog later so I'm going to test it out...

To make a jug full here's what you need:
1 cup of blueberries
1/4 cup of sugar
A bottle of lemonade
Procedure:
Let the blueberries thaw a little if they are frozen; mash them up a bit in the  cup of sugar when they’re ready. Then add the lemonade (You can add lemon and lime juice). Mix it up until the sugar has dissolved and there you go! I'd suggest putting a few whole ones in there as well and add ice (The cooler it is the nicer) YUM!

Health Tip: Blueberries

Blueberries in lemonade
Blueberries are perennial flowering plants of the genus Vaccinium. Fruits sold as "blueberries" and are native to North America (commercially cultivated highbush blueberries were not introduced into Europe until the 1930s).

In the popular press, blueberries have reached superstar status in terms of their unique health benefits. While we prefer to think of all 130 World's Healthiest Foods as rightful superstars, we can understand many of the special accolades being given to this wonderful berry. Most health research on blueberries involves their phytonutrient content. Anthocyanins - the colorful antioxidant pigments that give many foods their wonderful shades of blue, purple, and red - are usually the first phytonutrients to be mentioned in descriptions of blueberries and their amazing health-supportive properties. While it is true anthocyanins are pretty spectacular when it comes to blueberries and their support of our body systems, there are actually a wide variety of health support phytonutrients found in blueberries.

Given the wide variety of antioxidant nutrients present in blueberries, it is not surprising to find research studies showing improved antioxidant defenses in body systems that need special protection from oxidative stress, like the cardiovascular system. But what is surprising about the blueberry research is its whole body relevance. It is not only the cardiovascular system that has been shown to have strengthened antioxidant status following consumption of blueberries. It is virtually every body system studied to date! For example, there is new evidence that damage to muscles following overly taxing exercise can be reduced through consumption of blueberries. There is also evidence that protection of the nervous system from oxidative stress can be accomplished by regular consumption of blueberries. These antioxidant-based protective effects have been shown in older adults at risk of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as in younger healthy adults and middle-aged obese adults. Antioxidant protection of the blood sugar regulatory system has also been demonstrated in blueberry intake studies, as has antioxidant protection of the digestive tract (especially with respect to the colon and its risk of cancer). It's this whole body antioxidant support that helps blueberries stand out as an amazing antioxidant fruit.

Tips for preparing blueberries

Fresh berries are very fragile and should be washed briefly and carefully and then gently patted dry if they are not organic. Wash berries just prior to use to not prematurely remove the protective bloom that resides on the skin's surface. If you know the source of either wild or organic berries try not to wash them at all.
When using frozen berries in recipes that do not require cooking, thaw well and drain prior to using.
Healthiest Way of Preparing Blueberries

Blueberries retain their maximum amount of nutrients and their maximum taste when they are enjoyed fresh and not prepared in a cooked recipe. That is because their nutrients - - including vitamins, antioxidants, and enzymes - undergo damage when exposed to temperatures (350°F/175°C and higher) used in baking.
A few quick serving ideas

  • Add frozen blueberries to your breakfast shake. If the blender container is plastic, allow berries a few minutes to soften, so they will not damage the blender.
  • Fresh or dried blueberries add a colorful punch to cold breakfast cereals.
  • For a deliciously elegant dessert, layer yogurt and blueberries in wine glasses and top with crystallized ginger.

Tip: Tights

Do you have some old tights that you barely wear?
Well here's a great idea for you; bright bold colour tights are amazing but can sometimes be to much, well try wearing you netted tights over the top for a new style.
So ripped is in?
Apparently ripped tights are in so if you get one hole in your tights, go crazy and make loads more. this seems strange but I've seen it everywhere and some times it looks really good.

Tip: Frizzy hair!

I have naturally curly hair; but it's not one of them nice big bouncy curls it's the kind where you get one nice curl and the rest looks like bed her with a hint of frizz, I have huge problems trying to straighten my hair because it's extremely thick and I don't want to damage it as I'm trying to grow it out as I had to get it all cut off because of split ends due to large amounts of dying. So even though my hair is brown I use a blonde shampoo because it's for people who have bleached there hair which is really damaged, so this stops any of your hair getting damaged (I'm not a professional but this helps me) I then use Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner (I have a 500ml bottle, it cost under £300 and it makes my hair so soft). I will NOT blow dry my hair as I don't want to damage it so I towel dry and then leave it to dry naturally unless I really need to get somewhere quick then I will blow dry it. Once it is 100% dry I add Got to Be heat protection spray and straighten my hair in layers. I use FHI hair straighteners which are supposed to be better then GHD's, on my mums hair they work great but my hair it still frizzy as ever. So after straightening I use Advance Techniques colour protect shine serum, even though my hair isn't coloured but it stops my hair been frizzy; one squirt on your hands, rub into your hands then through your hair, give it a brush and the frizz has gone PLUS! It makes it extra shiny and soft.

7 BUDGET-FRIENDLY WAYS TO STOCK UP ON DESIGNER CLOTHES …

7 Budget-Friendly Ways to Stock up on Designer Clothes …

Designer clothes are often too expensive to be bought on a whim, yet too awesome to be completely forgotten which causes us to push our desires somewhere in the back of our minds and satisfy with an occasional window shopping! But guess what? Popular designers can find their place in your closet and you don’t have to go all out to make it happen! Plan, save and read these tips on how and where to find discounted designer clothes and you’ll start building your own collection in no time!

1. SAMPLE SALES

Sample collections are often too short and too private to become your exclusive source of awesome, yet affordable designer clothes although you just might end up being at the right place in the right time and actually manage to snag a couple of gorgeous pieces! Now, in order to do that, you’ll definitely need to give your lady Luck a bit of a push so I suggest signing up to as many fashion-related newsletters as possible!

2. AUCTIONS

From local auction sites to Craigslist and, of course, eBay – internet is a good place to be looking for popular designers! And whether you’re on a lookout for rare, vintage or discontinued styles, I’m absolutely sure you’ll find them! Check labels and tags, get acquainted with all those lifesaving tips and tricks that could help you spot a counterfeit item and don’t be afraid to even consult a professional authenticator because the only way to be sure that you’re getting a good deal is to make sure you are buying an authentic item.

3. STOCK/OUTLET

Stock and/or outlet malls are a perfect way to save anywhere from 30 to a staggering 70 or even 80 percent of what you would normally spend on a certain item! And, you know what is the best part is? You don’t even have to leave the house and risk fighting a lot of angry frugal fashionistas over that last fabulous piece! Simply visit Net-A-Porter’s frugal sister, The Outnet, and enjoy flash sales, fabulous discounts, back-in-stock items and many more fab events!

4. THRIFT STORES

Thrifting is a very popular sport nowadays and if you thought all those stories about women who managed to find fabulous designer clothes and accessories for under £10-£20 are just urban myths or nothing more than he say-she say, you’re in for a big surprise! In fact, I’ll risk going too far and say that this just might be the only place to get really, really cheap designer clothes that, surprise, surprise – can be brand new!

5. CONSIGNMENT SHOPS

If digging through a pile of useless polyester junk in hopes you’ll find a gem worth snagging isn’t your cup of tea, you can start searching for discounted designer clothes in a more presentable environment. From vintage designer shops to popular consignment boutiques – truly wonderful both brand new and used items are just sitting there just waiting for their new owners! Have in mind that this is waaay different than thrifting and that you won’t be able to expect such bargain prices but definitely browse around and keep your options open as prices in lesser known shops differ from the prices in famous ones.

6. GIFTS

Why get a ton of birthday or Christmas gifts you won’t be absolutely thrilled with when you can get just one that’s a dream came true? Now, I know what you’re going to say and yes, I agree, it’s totally rude to go around telling people, «I’m saving for a new Gucci belt so I’ll be accepting cash gifts only this year». You can, however, tell this to your husband, closest family members and all those people who know you well and prefer asking to taking wild shots. You can even set up a special bank account for this purpose to avoid any awkward situations and make sure the amounts of money stay as they should – private! And don’t worry – you are neither the first nor the last woman who found this tactics useful.

7. CO-OP COLLECTIONS

Popular clothing chains such as H&M and Target team up with a different designer each year to create a whole line of affordable clothes and accessories signed by the designer in question. I do have to note that the quality and craftsmanship of these designer clothes often isn’t as flawless as you’d expect but it’s still a nice way to rock the print or design you like without having to spend a lot of cash or turn to illegal and often quite poorly constructed fakes.

8 FASHION STYLIST TIPS YOU SHOULD KNOW …

1. CHOOSE YOUR CLOTHES ACCORDING TO YOUR BODY TYPE

Some things look great on plastic dolls and plastic dolls only!, Of course that doesn’t mean you should give up in your search for a perfect outfit. You must be aware of your flaws and your virtues and focus on clothes that will bring out only the best of your features.

2. LOOK AND FEEL SLIM WITH ULTRA TRENDY PRINTS AND ASYMMETRIC CLOTHES

Prints are ultra popular this year and the same goes for asymmetric tunics and dresses so, if you have some extra pounds you’d like to hide, this should be very good news for you. Choose vertical patterns, prints that make you look slim and asymmetric tunics and dresses that do have some shape.

3. BELTS ARE A MUST HAVE

Cute, eye-catching, funky, bold – a good belt is always a great investment because this simple accessory can make or break the entire outfit. But, this simple accessory does more than that – it also accents your waist making your legs appear longer and leaner. So, if you have a baggy tunic, cardigan or a simple dress, don’t think twice about it, add an interesting belt! And the next time you go shopping, remember this fashion stylist tips and pick a nice belt or two to glam up your favorite outfits.

4. SHOP FOR OUTFITS

Don’t shop for single pieces simply because they are cheap, cute or both because you know you’ll never wear them. Shop for outfits instead and before you decide to buy some piece of clothes, try to think of at least three different outfits you can wear it with. If you follow the shoes + bag rule and could never work mismatching shoes and bag, always buy your shoes and bags together to make sure they are a perfect match.

5. ACCESSORIES CAN SAVE THE DAY

Anything can be a new black if you have the right accessories! You can wear purple, turquoise, navy, beige, brown or even white dress and still look like a million bucks but the only thing you must remember is to accessorize properly. A single color outfit will make you slimmer and taller so, in order to keep this flattering visual effect, and loose nothing on charm, I suggest an interesting necklace and a bracelet.

6. ALWAYS WEAR MATCHING UNDERGARMENTS

The next one of my favorite, totally basic fashion stylist tips is underwear so, if you don’t want to look like a luggage, you should definitely pay attention to what you’re wearing under your clothes. Even the most minimal thongs can show if the bands are too tight and we all know that’s not a pretty sight so, before you leave your home, make sure you check yourself for underwear lines too.

7. PRACTICE THE SHOPPING DIET

Popular celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch says we shouldn’t buy dresses we’ll use just ones but invest in things we can wear in many ways instead. Black, is apparently, out of the picture, so feel free to focus on different colors and make sure the dress or the skirt you’ve chosen can be accessorized to look differently each time you wear it.

8. BE UNIQUE

Check your closets and your favorite thrift stores because you never know what kind of treasure you might find there. Did you know a woman actually managed to find an authentic Chanel bag in a thrift store? Yup, I think she paid about 30 or 50 bucks for it! Fashion is cool, trends are cool and there is always a way to incorporate them into your style. You can be classy, modern and chic on a budget and under your terms!

Shoeaholic!

Shoe obsession

Okay so I'm a little obsessed with shoes, I have about 30 pairs and I want so many more if I was rich I would have a closet just for shoes! But if I had to pick any of my shoes right now it would have to be my vans, I love them; they're so comfy.

How to: Rhinestone shoes

Why not Add a bit of sparkle to your shoe closet

My prom was last year but here's an amazing thing you can do for yours. Do you want something different to wear on your feet, something no one else has well grab an old pair of heels or some new cheap ones and make them look a million dollars with some £1.50 rhinestones.

After seeing Selena Gomez's shoes on her 'Who Says' music video I decided I had to have them shoes, so I looked everywhere for them and when I finally found a pair similar I nearly died when I saw the price! I think they where about £500, Yeah I can't afford that and I bet a lot of you can't either. So my idea was to create my own; all you need to do is order some rhinestones from eBay, get some PVA glue and a pair of stylish heels. I ordered about 2000 rhinestones costing me about £4-£5 all together, Got some dark blue heels as my dress was blue and started sticking them on one by one, I used 4mm rhinestones on the heel and filled in any gaps with 2mm rhinestones. I had loads left so I decided to do around the bottom at the front in 3mm rhinestones. I will post pictures tomorrow, I'm at my boyfriends house at the minute. With the left over rhinestones I did this to my wardrobe.

Extremely high heels are so in fashion right now!

Heels

Want to find some cheap, I don't usually shop in Primark but my mum does and she found these for just £7! My mums excellent when it comes to a bargain, she found a similar pair of heels to some heels that I've wanted for ages for 50p in Tesco...I know it's Tesco but that is amazing. She also just recently bought a pair of brown suede heels I think I'm in love with them, she got them from New Look for £6. My mum is just to good, she also bought me a black and purple striped cardigan which was £16 for £4!

My hair

Crazy hair

So if you read my post "It's all about the hair" You would know that I dyed my hair a lot so here's a few images of what my hair has been like in the past.
